I. Macroeconomic Industry
1. China’s foreign trade rose by 17.6% in the first 8 months; mechanical and electrical products accounted for 64% of total exports
Customs General Administration released data on September 8. In the first eight months, China’s total import and export of goods reached 34.78 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.6%. Exports hit 20.17 trillion yuan (+14.6%) while imports stood at 14.61 trillion yuan (+22%). Exports of mechanical and electrical products were 12.91 trillion yuan, up 21.9% year-on-year and accounting for 64% of total exports. The electronics & electromechanical sector continues to drive foreign trade growth.
2. Ten authorities issued the Digital-Green Synergy Plan to make breakthroughs in high-speed interconnection and high-bandwidth storage technologies
On September 4, the Cyberspace Administration of China and nine other authorities released the *Implementation Plan for Promoting the Coordinated Transformation of Digitalization and Green Development (2026–2030)*. The plan prioritizes R&D of in-memory computing, high-performance storage and data compression technologies, accelerates breakthroughs in core technologies including high-speed interconnection, high-bandwidth memory and low-power computing, and improves energy efficiency of infrastructure such as computing centers and 5G base stations.
3. 84 new national key foreign-invested projects added, including landmark projects related to PCB and servers
News from the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade: the Ministry of Commerce newly added 84 national key foreign-invested projects with total investment of USD 19.46 billion, covering mechanical & electrical equipment, chemical industry, energy and other fields. Among them, the Qingding AI server & high-speed optical module high-density interconnect laminated board project was selected as one of the six landmark foreign-invested projects. The computing-power PCB track continues to attract foreign investment.
II. End Market
1. Retail penetration of new energy passenger vehicles rose to 65.2% in August
Data from China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on September 9: Domestic passenger vehicle retail sales reached 1.541 million units in August, down 23.6% year-on-year and up 5.5% month-on-month. Retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles were 1.005 million units, rising 5.7% month-on-month with retail penetration hitting 65.2%. Wholesale volume of new energy passenger vehicles was 1.510 million units, a year-on-year increase of 16.4%. Demand for automotive PCB remains robust.
2. Global wearable device shipments declined; on-device AI becomes the main line of product upgrading
IDC statistics show global shipments of wrist-worn devices reached 48.01 million units in Q2 this year, dropping 4.3% year-on-year. As the industry’s dividend of popularization fades, manufacturers seek new growth via on-device AI and new-form hardware, driving demand for miniaturized and high-density PCBs.
3. IFA Berlin kicks off, nearly half of exhibitors are Chinese enterprises with concentrated launch of AI terminals
IFA Berlin 2026 was held from September 4 to 8 with over 1,900 exhibitors, more than 900 of which are Chinese companies. New products covering robots, AI glasses, smart home and smart mobility were unveiled. AI is evolving from single functions into systematic terminal applications, accelerating the intelligent and scenario-based upgrade of consumer electronics.
III. Enterprise News in Industrial Chain
1. Benchuan Intelligent plans to invest 3 billion RMB to expand production of AI computing high-layer boards and HDI boards
Benchuan Intelligent announced on September 8: Its project in Lishui, Nanjing plans to invest 2 billion RMB to build a production line with annual capacity of 1.5 million sq.m of AI computing high-layer boards and high-order HDI circuit boards over a 5-year construction period. Its wholly-owned subsidiary Zhuhai Shuohong will invest no more than 1 billion RMB in Phase II South China Intelligent Manufacturing Base for HDI boards, high-layer boards and any-layer HDI boards.
2. Kingboard Electronics passed HKEX hearing and pushed forward H-share listing
On September 7, HKEX published hearing documents of Kingboard Electronics. The company has passed the hearing for H-share issuance and listing. It completed filing with CSRC in June. Subsequent procedures including Hong Kong regulatory review and pricing remain pending. Issuance scale and listing date are yet to be confirmed.
3. Super Ying Electronics’ H-share listing plan approved by controlling shareholder’s shareholders’ meeting
Announcement on September 4: The plan for Super Ying Electronics to issue H-shares and list on the Main Board of HKEX has been approved by the shareholders’ meeting of its indirect controlling shareholder. It still needs approval from the company’s shareholders’ meeting, filing with CSRC, and clearance from HKEX and Hong Kong regulators.
4. Huadian Electronics’ Thailand base enters large-scale operation and achieved quarterly profit in Q2
According to Huadian Electronics’ investor communication records, its Thailand manufacturing base has finished capacity ramp-up and entered large-scale operation, turning profitable in Q2. Its revenue of data communication PCB reached 11.33 billion RMB in the first half of the year, surging 73.46% year-on-year. AI servers, high-speed switches and high-performance computing serve as core growth drivers.
5. Defu Technology plans 50,000 tons high-end electronic copper foil capacity, scheduled for phased production in Q2 2027
Defu Technology is pushing forward the construction of 50,000 tons high-end electronic circuit copper foil production capacity, which will be put into production in batches starting from Q2 2027. The company believes the downstream market of high-end copper foil maintains strong prosperity and regards carrier copper foil as a key advanced material business.
6. Guanghe Technology completed capital increase of 96 million RMB to subsidiary Huangshi Guanghe
Announcement on September 9: The industrial and commercial change for Guanghe Technology’s capital increase of 96 million RMB to its wholly-owned subsidiary Huangshi Guanghe with raised funds has been finalized. The registered capital of Huangshi Guanghe increased to 876 million RMB. The funds will be used for Phase 1 Stage 2 project of multi-layer precision circuit board project.
7. Ruixiang Intelligent won order for automatic optical module assembly line and expanded PCB packaging equipment business
Ruixiang Intelligent secured its first order for automatic optical module assembly production line with value of over 5 million RMB, scheduled for delivery in November. Equipment of its subsidiary meets the requirements for embedded process of new PCB chip packaging of a listed company, yet it remains uncertain whether this business can generate sales revenue.
